We’ve got a lot of people here who like music; we’ve got several “Domino” game threads; why not combine the two?
Here’s how it works:
Each domino is a cover song - “Song” by Artist X, originally by Y. To connect, you can either play
- another cover song by Artist X,
- another cover originally done by Y,
- Y covering someone else’s song, or
- Artist Z covering a song originally by Artist X.
So, let’s say “Like A Rolling Stone” by Jimi Hendrix, originally by Bob Dylan is in play. Possible plays would include
- Jimi’s version of “Wild Thing” originally by The Troggs
- The Byrds version of “Mr. Tambourine Man” by Dylan
- Bob Dylan’s version of " Mr. Bojangles" by Jerry Jeff Walker
- Stevie Ray Vaugn’s version of “Little Wing” originally by Hendrix
I’ll start with “Like A Rolling Stone” by Jimi Hendrix, originally by Bob Dylan
Chris Thile and Brad Mehldau with the Live from Here Band covering Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright”
Bob Dylan covering Richard Berry’s “Louie Louie”, as I just learned the other day in this thread. This should get us going.

How about some Chris Smither doing Visions Of Johanna.
(If we get stuck in a Dylan chain this thread it ain’t never gonna end.)
Well, I opened up the path to “Louie Louie”, but this also could lead to an endless loop.

I intentionally did not play Motorhead’s Louie Louie!
Chris Smither doing Blind Willie McTell’s Statesboro Blues.

Tedeschi and Trucks cover Statesboro Blues:
Well, I could post a certain Blind Willie McTell cover by Dylan, but I won’t do it to not get entangled in that loop.
The White Stripes covering “Lord Send Me an Angel”
Post Modern Jukebox covering White Stripes Seven Nation Army
Dear Lord, he’s harder to understand than The Kingsmen. Could you imagine the rumors over the lyrics if this was the famous version?
The White Stripes covering Burt Bacharach’s “I Just Don’t Know What to Do with Myself.”
Ryan Adams covering the White Stripes’ Dead Leaves and Dirty Ground
