Covering Valentine's Day in Chicago

Okay folks, Valentine’s Day is coming up and that means roses and chocolate and champagne and romantic situations for a lot of folks. Where in the Chicago area would you recommend taking that special someone, buying all the important heart-shaped stuff? Where’s the best place for flowers? Any discounts to be had? Any unusual items that can be found?

Please help your fellow Dopers out here and share your tips for a lovely February 14.

You can order a heart-shaped pizza from Bacino’s.

–That’s the first thing that came to my mind too Oakminster.

I would think you could find most any street corner in Chicago these days has some sort of homicide pinned to it.

Is there no romance in your soul whatsoever?

What sort of dinner? Geja’s is often touted as a romantic place for fondue. As hard as it is to believe, this is one case where ending up with a fine layer of oil at the end is not conducive to romance imho.

I like the chocolate from Piron in Evanston. Handmade Callebaut truffles rarely fail to please. I think roses are overrated, orchids are what I go for.
