Oh, I totally agree. The “team-player” bullshit is just that - bullshit. When supervisors accuse you of not being a team-player, it just means that you’re doing too good a job of looking out for yourself and not giving the company all your time for nothing.
The best time to find a job is when you have one.
A great thing to do when you start looking for a job is to make your current job the best it can possibly be (by doing it as well as you can and making it as positive as possible for everyone involved).
Then, when you find a job, let the current management know that they can offer your old job back at a higher pay grade and/or hiring more people, or be faced with an office without you.
