Cracked lets everyone (almost) you know go.

No, John Cheese is a pseudonym used by Mack Leighty. David Wong is a pseudonym used by Jason Pargin.

My bad. I googled his real name, as I knew it was out there, but didn’t read carefully enough once I recognized the name.

Well shit. This explains a lot. I’ll miss After Hours. I kept wondering why the good content wasn’t coming out. RIP.

I don’t think the “John Cheese #metoo” thing is related to the “Everyone Funny Is Let Go” thing. Good content wasn’t coming out because of the latter, not the former.

I never liked his columns anyway. Too much of a scold.
Not surprised frankly.

Here is the detailed chronology of Macks misbehaviour.

You’re joking, right? Did you know him personally?

Or are you saying that you can tell from essays about being poor in America that someone is sexually harassing co-workers? That’s ridiculous.

No. I said I am not surprised that allegations of misbehaviour of whatever description came out. He pretty much admitted to be an asshole and an treating people poorly in his columns. And, BTW, his columns were not just about poverty in the US as such (Wong has also written on that), but on multiple “life topics”.

Are you his lawyer perchance?

They are completely unrelated as far as I know but this seems a good enough place to discuss both.

Oh, for sure. I was just replying to Flander’s “this explains a lot”

Oo. Good one. What a master

The fratty website with fratty dudes running it didn’t treat women right?!? Gasp!

Although, seriously, it is sad that someone who seemed to have matured enough in life to learn from his past did these things. Then again, everyone has their demons.

I have to give some support to AK84 on this one. Mack Leighty wasn’t just writing generic comedy pieces; a lot of his material was autobiographical. So we did have a chance to see how Leighty viewed himself and viewed his place in the world.

I didn’t specifically think he was a sexual predator. But I’m not shocked by the accusation. I feel it’s in accord with the general attitudes he expressed in his work.

That said, I’m not saying this is my final judgement on Leighty. At the moment, he’s been accused. I’m waiting to see what develops from this.

Thanks Little Nemo. But in this case he has accepted at least some of the wrong doing. The unsolicited obscene DM and text messages from 2014 he has copped to. Some of the other allegations seem rather general and vague, but he has accepts the accuracy of the worst of them.

From the Medium article linked upthread, he’s been both accused and admitted to it – at least as far as that woman goes; don’t know if he’s admitted to the other incidents from other women she’s collected:

I read Cracked, listen to the podcast, listen to Jack O’Brien’s newish podcast. While it seems that Wong/Pargin is doing the right thing now, I wonder how much he and Jack, for example, knew and how long they knew it. That Medium piece makes it sound like they sent it up to HR out of their control, but that’s also what people say when they know and don’t do shit.

I worry most about Jack and David/Jason because I enjoy their stuff the most. Alex is ok, but he’s nothing special.

Thats what happens when you think Delta House were the heroes of the film.

Kinda? After he had it “pointed out” to him that there were others. He updated his original apology on Medium:

He didn’t address any specific other women.

I found out last night Jack O’Brien tweeted
