Cracker recipe??

Or something cracker-esque, that would go well with New England clam chowder. It doesn’t necessarily need to be something you’d crumble into soup. Just, well, crackery.

It’s snowing like a mo-fo, we’ve got what we need to make the chowder, but there is nothing in the house resembling a cracker. I got rear-ended earlier today when I went out, so I’m not going out again!

I could make biscuits, I guess, but I’m not that fired up about it.

Hmm - make basic pie crust, possibly with the addition of a little cheese or herbs, roll it out and bake it in strips or squares? You need only flour, shortening, salt, water and the seasonings mentioned above.

Maybe cheese straws? You don’t have to make them in straw form. You can just roll them about a 1/4-inch thick and cut them in squares or rectangles.

As a child, I thought baked pie crust scraps were da bomb. I’m kind of afraid to do what you suggest. It’d be like crack.

Mmmmm. Pie…crust!

This looks like a good recipe, I think. Or at least a good place to start. I think she has other recipes as well.
