Crackers in soup

::wipes chamomile tea (with honey) off monitor::

Eve, has anyone told you lately that you are one sick puppy?

::prints out song for the next Shirley Temple Film Festival::

Fer criminey sakes Eve, stop crowding my act!

I only eat Ritz type crackers, and I only eat them in Salmon Chowder, 'cause they’re integral to the taste, and in Chili, 'cause it’s the law.

Basically, for me, it’s the taste.

Sorry to hijack, but… Salmon Chowder? Is that a <insert your city/state/region here> thing? It sounds interesting.

Ah, Fritos. One of nature’s perfect foods. I use Fritos in chili. Fill up the bowl with Fritos, put shredded cheddar on top and cover with chili. Now that’s Mmm-mmm good!

Don’t worry, hijacking is a time honored tradition around here.

Yes, Salmon chowder is interesting, quite good too. I’m the only person (besides my Mother) that I know of who makes it, so it can’t be regional. But if I told you how I make it, the gourmets on the board would be agitating to have me banned. I’ll have to think about it and decide if I want to risk the humiliation.

Okay JuanitaTech, Just for you, I posted the recipe for salmon chowder over in Zenster’s recipe thread.

It’s a very good use of crackers.

Don’t nobody know no manners?
I put crackers in my soup and my Aunt went nuts…or, crackers.
She said a few oyster crackers in the soup were okay, but anything else was WRONG!

I’m about to visit her in a week.
There go the crackers.

Thanks, Bumbazine. Sounds like the Oyster Stew my hubby’s grandmother makes for him every once in a while. Just substitute the salmon with oysters and add some chopped onions.

A few chopped onions on top - Frito pie! Mmm-mmm…

I love crackers in every kind of soup, but how come nobody’s mentioned the best cracker of all? Keebler Club crackers! (Or Waverly Wafers will work). Mmm - buttery.
