All I wanted to do was give away for free was some NASCAR diecast to kids that are having a tough time. I have a garage full of the stuff and there is no market to sell it so I thought I would give it away. I placed a couple ads in the Seattle area Craiglist and I also placed a few restrictions on how the diecast would be given away. Well apparently some fuckheads think I am a spammer and not only had my ads remove, they had me banned. I am a nice guy trying to do something nice for a few kids this Christmas and and bunch of fucking Grinches spoiled the fun. Kiss my ass every single one of you…
That sucks.
Check out www.freecycle.org if you’re looking to give stuff away to a good home. Someone from my local list is giving me (and delivering it too) a new 17" monitor tomorrow.
Other alternatives:
Call your local police department and see if they’re doing a Toys for Joy campaign. Organizations helping needy families are scrambling right now for donations. There are group homes, fraternal organizations, women’s shelters, agencies for the disabled, soup kitchens, and more, all looking for small toys and stuff to give away at kids’ holiday parties, and bigger stuff for doorprizes at fundraisers. Call your local Chamber of Commerce and they will help hook you up.
Even if you don’t actually see all this stuff in your community, it’s there. I served for several years on my company’s community assistance committee, and you would not believe the number of organizations looking for items right now, and these events are all pretty much invisible to the public at large.
Can you email craigslist to appeal your banning?
Craig’s email address is craig@craigslist.org. You might try emailing him directly.
If you’re posting to a local Craigslist category outside your geographic area, and you have a link to a Web site, odds are it got reported as spam. Spam from out-of-town furniture and electronics dealers are a big problem on the Cleveland Craigslist, and I report it all the time.
