Dang, that is too young. I read she was working on a project when she died. RIP.
So young. What a loss. RIP Dolores.
Yep, very sad. Great singer.
From the news I read about her life, I suspect we will find one of two causes - suicide, or an accidental opiod overdose. She was suffering from both depression and back pain.
And I was just thinking about her two days ago.

rip.
I just was going to post this …I haven’t heard anything of thtm since the mtv days … but wow… she had a rough life it seems …
I literally said these very words to a coworker not ten minutes ago (not that I wish harm to Mr McGowan. )
The Cranberries were a big part of the soundtrack of a segment of my life, possibly the last really happy time for me. Thanks, Delores, for being with me for the good times.
I remember waking up to “Linger” everyday in the spring and summer of '93 on my local top 40 radio station. Sorry to hear that beautiful voice is gone.
Reports are already sneaking out that it was fetanyl. So, very likely an accidental overdose.
I guess it could be suicide but fetanyl kills so many people by accident, that’s the safe bet.
My kids are going to be pretty upset when I tell them, as well. As I am ![]()
I remember in the late 90s early 00s they one of the the entertainment shows looked the cranberries up after they had fallen off the map and she said they didn’t have a contract with anyone and was selling their new records on their website/page (for pretty much the same reasons the smashing pumpkins broke up for a few years – their fans grew up and moved on and the boy bands and girl groups were back in style …)
I guess that didn’t go well ?..
I was going to make a maudlin observation that if I had heard that a female Irish singer had died, I would’ve assumed it would be Sinead O’Connor.
But over on a guitar forum, someone linked to this article on O’Riordan from 2014 in the Belfast Telegraph: Dolores O'Riordan: The demons that linger in her life | BelfastTelegraph.co.uk
It sounds like she had a traumatic life, too - abuse for years, substance abuse issues, diagnosed bipolar. So much to deal with.
Speaking of McGowan, O’Connor, etc.
The night Delores died turned out to be the same night as a concert in honor of Shane McGowan.
Among the performers was Sinéad O’Connor. Which is surprising since she had nothing nice to say about him after their record company enforced duet on a remake of Haunted.
Speaking of the original Pogues Haunted. The singer was Cait O’Riordan. No relation.
That night must have had some downer moments given who was there and the recent news.
One of the highlights of my youth (includes college years) was attending a Cranberries show in Berkeley in April 1995. First row and backstage passes, one of the few benefits working at a Tower Records shop. “Dreams” is one of my all-time favorite songs. RIP Dolores.
she accidentally drowned while drunk , 4 times the legal limit for driving in the UK
Good God another one?
Do celebrities not take showers or something? Dolores, Whitney, Whitney jr…all bathtubs.
My ex was a big fan. I liked The Cranberries, but only in small doses. It still kinda hits, though. Another piece of my youth (early 20s, anyway) gone.
I would not have guessed she was younger than me. Go figure.
a nice hotel is probably going to have big bathtubs that are used more than small home bathtubs. Most home tubs are not very usable if you are over the age of 12.
