Cream cheese

All of a sudden my cream cheese has started getting moldy before I use it all. Is there anyway to stop this?

If you’re not using it for recipes I would suggest you start buying cream cheeses that have each portion individually wrapped. Like Laughing Cow.

Wait, you mean they don’t already come in individual portion sizes???

Eat it faster.

Perhaps there’s already a mold colony in your refrigerator? Is this the softened cream cheese in a tub? If so, make sure you seal it properly. If it’s the block cream cheese, I’d store it in a plastic container.

Some of my local stores carry the 1/2 blocks, i.e. 4 oz vs 8 oz.

More expensive per ounce, of course, but if you’re throwing half of it out anyway…
