The Great One’s answer about Creamsicles and Dreamsicles was concise and enlightening; everything my answers to questions generally are not.

I’m wondering, though, if the accompanying graphic was meant to be suggestive, or have I just been inhaling too much chalk dust?

I, for one, would be gravely disappointed if Slug ever did not intend for something to be suggestive.

I dunno. It doesn’t really look like Slug’s usual linework. Did someone else do the drawings early on?

I agree. The original artist was George Lee - look at the link to the first column, in 1973:

It looks more like his style - unfortunately, the FAQ’s don’t say when Slug took over.
