I’m wondering, though, if the accompanying graphic was meant to be suggestive, or have I just been inhaling too much chalk dust?
I thought the same thing, so I’m guessing it is meant to be suggestive.

I, for one, would be gravely disappointed if Slug ever did not intend for something to be suggestive.
