Creamsicle sits with an elevated paw

Creamsicle sits with her right paw elevated. (Note: I don’t have a photo of it. The link is just a picture of the cat.) She doesn’t do it all the time, or even most of the time. It seems she does it most frequently when it’s cold or wet outside. Her paw does not appear to hurt her, and she walks normally. It appears to be an affectation. I wonder how she decided to start doing it?

Ted the Dog frequently sits like that. He’s fancy.

Reminds me of an interview with Ron Jeremy. He explained why he jerks off with his pinky extended. He said, “It’s classier that way”.

That sounds like a good opening line to a poem.

Our cat Whitney has an odd thing where she sticks a back leg straight up in the air as if she’s going to clean herself, but doesn’t. She just leaves it up there, while looking around the room or just sitting and reflecting on Whitney things. This is sometimes followed by her flopping over after a few minutes. Maybe she was going to clean herself and just forgot (which would not surprise me with her). Maybe she just likes to stick her foot up in the air. We’ll never know.

I have a cat that does the same thing. Paw up. No reason. Maybe she feels dainty.

Of course, this is also the cat the owns the other two, no question. Maybe she just needs to rest the paw after all the smack downs she deals out.

Perhaps Creamsicle is a maneki neko?

Possibly by T. S. Eliot.

It’s more of a ‘limp wrist’ pose, rather than a wave.

My dog does that too. I was told that with some dogs, once they learn to shake hands, they offer their paw every time.

Yes, my dog does that too. The downside with him is that if we don’t shake his paw, he gets more and more insistent about it, until he’s putting his paw in our laps and demanding that we shake. :stuck_out_tongue:
