Is this legal?? If someone doesn’t like the webmaster, and wants to get them in trouble, or if you don’t like someone else, can you
put up just anyone’s or any company’s credit report on a bb?? I’d think if a webmaster left up someone’s report for all to see, that person could raise one big stink with that webmaster. Shame people have to “babysit” people that show so little concern for one’s
private information.

Sav, I don’t get this question. How would someone else get another persons credit report ? What would be the motivation for posting it ? I would think that it would be illegal, but the way you write in your post leads me to wonder . . . has someone done this to you ? How frightening.

sav - I would be illegal for someone to even obtain a credit report on another individual or company without a valid business reason. To do so would be, by definition, fraud. Even if the report was obtained for a legitimate reason (maybe poster “A” was the finance manager at the dealership where poster “B” bought a car) using the report for any other purpose could also be consisdered fraud. In short, yes, it would be highly illegal.
Give credit where credit is due, but keep the report confidential.

I am pretty sure that businesses can only obtain a credit score and not a credit report.

Credit reports are still difficult to read / intrepret unless you have the accompanying explaination sheet.
Here, in the great state of GA, citizens of GA are entitled to not one be two free credit report requests per year.

TerryT - It depends on what the information the business needs to get out of the report and how much they are willing to pay. A credit scoring report is sufficient for the majority of business needs and is cheaper than a full report, therefore most businesses now use credit scoring. Even within a bank credit scoring is used sometimes and a full credit report is used other times. Any company that can pull a credit score can also obtain a full credit report, most just don’t need the extra info or expense.
You used to be able to get credit reports from TRW.com but I can’t find them anymore.
Any reasonable web site for getting credit reports, which BTW, are taken from public info so are legal.
