Creepiest rock song?

A few different times here in CS I’ve seen people ask about “White Wedding”, and there are apparently some people who interpret the song in a much…bloodier way than Idol intended. They take the sneering references to a “white wedding” and the reference to a shotgun to mean that the narrator intends to shoot up the wedding party.

*Dead Flowers *by the Stones strikes me as creepy-sad.

Well, when youre sitting back
In your rose pink cadillac
Making bets on kentucky derby day
Ill be in my basement room
With a needle and a spoon
And another girl to take my pain away

One, by Metallica, strikes me as rather creepy. It’s inspired by Johnny Got His Gun, a disturbing film in its own right. Sure, it’s not sexually creepy, but I feel that the imagery can rightly be filed under “Creepy”:

Darkness imprisoning me
All that I see
Absolute horror
I cannot live
I cannot die
Trapped in myself
Body my holding cell

Richard Thompson specialises in creepy.

**
I feel so good I’m going to break somebody’s heart tonight
I feel so good I’m going to take someone apart tonight**
(‘Feel so Good’)

I didn’t do it, it wasn’t me
I was right at the back, invisible, see?
I’m 100 per cent, and that’s a fact
You can ask Diz , I’ll be right back

(‘I’ll Tag Along’)

I took my darling down, I took my darling down
To that big grey house down the lane
And then the doctor said, he said “It’s in her head
She’s never going to be right again”
I kissed my love goodbye, she didn’t blink an eye
They took her down the hall, she never looked back at all

(‘Grey Walls’)

And sometimes when the night is still
I can feel the gathering of his will
I can feel him flex the strings of power
And grope to his appointed hour

(‘When We Were Boys at School’)

Always make your best moves late at night
Always keep your tools well out of sight
It never pays to work the same town twice
It never hurts to be a little nice
That’s the way we make love

(‘Love in a Faithless Country’)

There are plenty more…

It’s not a rock song, but “Knoxville Girl” by the Blue Sky Boys (a much older song, but theirs is the most well known) is about a guy who murders his bride-to-be in graphic detail.

Better late than never…don’t think this one made the list yet.

The Australian singer-songwriter Paul Kelly has a song called “God Told Me To” - that’s told from a condemed killer’s perspective at his execution.

The video is really creepy too:

I used to think “Jenny (867-5309)” was a sweet song, then I learned the lyrics. But I’m sure I’ve heard creepier. Much creepier.

Mother on The Wall, by Pink Floyd

Honorable mention is the obscure Timothy by Rupert Holmes of Pina Colada Song fame. TIMOTHY - Lyrics - International Lyrics Playground
