Lou Vincent is a New Zealand cricketer who has been banned for match fixing. He has stated in interviews that he got involved in fixing because of his “hero”
Who is being referred to? It sounds like another cricketer, and if so, why isn’t he using the guy’s name? Shouldn’t we know about and prosecute whoever this person is?
The most obvious thing to do is look at who was on his team in the ICL and have a think about what he’s saying and thus who it is likely to be.
Vincent was on the Chandigarh Lions. The team was (per Wikipedia):
Chris Cairns (New Zealand) (C.)
Andrew Hall (South Africa)
Lou Vincent (New Zealand)
Daryl Tuffey (New Zealand)
Matthew Elliott (Australia)
Karanveer Singh
Sarabjeet Singh
T.P. Singh
Rajesh Sharma
Ishan Malhotra
Chetan Sharma Jr
Manish Sharma
Ravinder Singh
Bipul Sharma
Karanveer Singh
Amit Uniyal
Harpreet Singh
Gaurav Gupta
The coach was Balwinder Sandhu.
I have a pretty good idea who Vincent is referring to from this lot, especially since you can discount all the Indian guys as not fitting the “legend” profile he’s put out in the public domain. However I am not a lawyer, but being British and knowing a little bit about our laws I’m not that certain it’s worth my actually pointing the finger. Still, I think anyone willing to do some light searching on some of these names will be able to work out who it’s likely to be.
…he isn’t using the other person’s name because the other person is categorically denying it: and even though the person in question has admitted that he is the person in question (and he has been spoken to by the match fixing enquiry people) it is wiser for Lou Vincent to not outright name this other player lest he end up on the end of a law suit.
