Actually a quick question about the resolution. How would I fix the problem of 800x600? If I make it thinner, then won’t it look strange in all the larger resolutions? Should I make a splash screen with links to the site in different resolutions?

I’d say you are off to a great start. I realize that you are going to add much more content but I like its understated, minimalist appearance. And I think it is GREAT that you have avoided the “gimmicks” (frames, MIDI’s, blinking text and my personal gripe - animated graphics - ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!)
I wouldn’t worry too much about whether visitors have JavaScript enabled. My website depends 99% on visitors having JavaScript being activated (calculators, converters, etc) and it got over 2 million hits last year.
I also wouldn’t worry too much trying to figure out how to make your website compatible with someone using Win 95 using Netscape 3.0 with a resolution of 600 by 800, etc. No sense trying to worry about every possible computer configuration. Others might disagree with me, but hey I did get over 2 million hits last year.
