Critique Steve Grand's ALL AMERICAN BOY (Gay Country Music Video)

It’s a gay themed country music video written/performed/filmed/produced by a gucking forgeous 23 year old singer named Steve Grand.

Warning: contains very brief and very shapely butt shot (at 3:24).

Not being a country music fan I really can’t critique the song; in fact my enjoyment of the video increases when I turn the sound off. However, for those who are CM fans, any thoughts on this? Is it good or novelty? Do you think the gay theme will help ro hurt his popularity? Discuss.

Either way, Grand is a genius at how to make an entrance and get his name on the floor. (He said in an interview he got a bad eye infection during the skinny-dipping scene because the pond water was toxic.)

Country western through and through. Loved it.

I’d call it more pop-country than CW, but it’s a good song.
I don’t think it will help his career with CW crowd, in general. I grew up in TX, I know these people. I don’t think that song will get widespread country airplay, at all.

What I think will happen is that a female recording artist will cover the song, changing a few lyrics and get a number one hit.

That all said, I liked the song–good chorus. And omg, that guy is aitch-ay-dubya-tee HAWT!

In an interview he said that his parents sent him to “reparative” (aka pray-the-gay-away) therapy. They’ve since accepted him.

I would drink his bath water, particularly if he was in it.

That’s a terrible song. I’m torn between wanting it to be successful on principle, as a successful gay country singer would be pretty awesome, and thinking that it’s so bad that even our late lamented James Otto Sweet Heart wouldn’t be able to listen to it.

Plus, it’s named after a far superior country classic (which I was coincidentally listening to just before opening this thread).

I remember loving that song as a kid and probably haven’t heard it in 35 years or more. Thanks for the memory.

I thought the video was about to demonstrate the punchline to “What’s the difference between a straight man and gay man?”

A bottle of whiskey.
