Due to his handicap, I doubt he will ever catch one. Has treed a couple though.
There are young & small, 25# or so I guess.
Hate to kill them so will try other stuff and have Zeus keep up the pressure.
Live trap means I have to take them at least 7 miles in a straight line distance to be pretty sure they won’t get back. Skunks need about 5 miles straight line. All around a PITA.

I put some more/different food at the old deer stand and that seems to have kept the raccoons from the deck and got some mama’s to bring in a couple fawns for an easy feed.
Still no big woodpeckers. ::: sigh :::
A little after 10PM, Zeus decided he would brave the heat just in case something needed chasing. You can tell he is rather disappointed he can’t climb trees. He cast around for a while and then came back with 1/10 the stick tights he had the other night.
He was pretty tired because he stayed in bed the longest time since I can remember. Then he Demon came in and both snuggled with me at the same time. Been worrying about Demon for a while now and this was some old behavior he has not done since we left the mountain. I hope it means he is getting better.
Now have both water stations fastened so that the critters won’t be knocking them off the deck.

Lived up on Petit Jean Mountain next to the park on the west end.
On the way to the Critter Cam deer stand, Zeus took off. I got to see him get out run by a big doe.
Well, he was having a good time and he missed most of the stick tights.
Critters are cleaning up the food at ground level but still no big woodpeckers. ::: sigh ::::
Gone for a bit and the critters eat everything in sight and then raid the back of the Mule in the shed. ::: sheesh ::::

When we lived on Petit Jean we thought the same about the wife’s siblings up in Prairie Grove. Actually 72 on my deck right now but the air is real still. That tears me up almost as bad as the heat.
Drake field at FYV is at 73° but Humidity is 93%. Gasp/pant/pant
The high ground that runs more or less E/W at about Winslow is where there is a 10° jump in Temp according to memory . Got salt for that??
I don’t understand why the big woodpeckers don’t come back. I never should have quit that spot in the first place.
Zeus is on the deck doing his ‘guard duty’ tonight. He may keep the coons and deer away a bit better if he stays out all night. He made some serious rounds tonight checking & rechecking for sign.
I feel better when he is out at night as he is a real good early warning system. Can tell by his bark what is going on. We don’t even get mad when it wakes us up, which is not all that often but we know what is happening out in the dark with him out there.
Bought more corn & sunflower seed yesterday. Gahhhhhhhhhhhh !!!

When I went to check 30 minutes after I had refilled the food & got the SD card to change things in the squirrel war and the deer had already ate 3/4 of the corn and 1/4 of the sunflower seeds.
I put out more, I’m not that mean… yet.
Wonder how high a squirrel can jump? Put the suet on a wire, a squirrel still got to it… Needs to be higher or have disk shaped blockers? 27 pictures added to the previous album saved from 384 total for today. First 4-5 note the time. Bawahahaha I have ‘sucker’ on my forehead.

Added 46 photos of CC to the last album. I have stopped the corn and bird seed for the mammals but am leaving the suet as the bigger woodpeckers are coming back. Went winter is getting serious I will add it back in for the deer and little guys.
May move the camera around some as there is a lot of bird activity on the deck rail etc…
