Birdies by the bunches raiding the feeders. Even bird on the suet which I refilled. 5 deer took off when I went to the deer stand. Zeus wanted me to go play in the woods with him. Bawahahaha, yeah, right…
Fine small snowflakes so far is all there has been so you all with more, enjoy it for us as we don’t play much in the snow anymore. Besides, cat beds are in the drier now. Need to get that done before they go in for the night. Now they are just using up the warm in the house. We have moved the thermostat up to 65°F. Zeus came in for a ‘scritch’ this AM but is too warm for him to stay long.

We received about the same in the middle of the state.
Deer obviously got along splendidly with out us feeding them, but how much snow does it take to make it difficult for them to find food?
What is local to them? What is the normal diet there? Are they used to deeper snow?
Seems they do the "hay out the airplane door’ when the snow is so deep they can’t move enough to get to food or there has been a refreeze and the crust is to thick/thin and is cutting them up.
I don’t remember but once or twice in the OK & AR area hearing about deer freezing and starving due to snow & ice.
In other words, for us in AR, I really have no idea that I’m 100% on.

Roads are good except where they aren’t. Zeus was slow to get excited and seemed to have trouble getting in. I thought I saw him favor that bad left hind leg the other day but with more watching he seemed OK. Now I am worrying again although I can’t find any sore or place he does not like me to touch or manipulate.
Worry, worry… I am giving him plenty of fuel for the cold that is coming again tonight. He did come in for a good scritch about 11:00 but wanted his food delivered outside. I like the cold too but that boy is something above & beyond…
On the run to town, I made him stay on leash but he still got to meet & greet a pretty but older GS lady in the store so there was lots of sniffing. Out side I went to about 80’ of lead and we had some ‘you need to go around that tree the other way to get unstuck.’ I will be watching harder to see what is going on with him.
He got stubborn about coming to the car and just did the sack of potatoes thing but I refuse to get mad and just keep talking and I can pull him which is too much for his self image so he does come to the Subaru. Then he is all worried about me still loving him so there is lots of reassurance.
Birds & deer and getting more in numbers. The little birds are swarming the feeders and eating about 2 gallons of black oil sunflower seeds a day

It Is above freezing now. W00t!!!
Heaters were wonky in the plant room last night and I got wonky fighting it. I won.
Zeus wonders why I won’t get down and ‘rassel’ him in the snow!!!

Did I ask you what Zeus thinks of these deer? Are they potential dinner, or things to herd?
He chases mostly just because they are trespassing in his yard.
Lately he has backed off the ones that go to the feeding spot.
The ones that move N-S along the ridge above us and the top of the cut bank below us he will go after with a big bark. He can’t catch them but he does like to make them run. Bawahahaha
