Critter Cam out back.

Nice deck, nice grass. The five acres has gone to hell since I no longer live there.

What are the yellow birds + a blast from the past.

Yellow Birds??

Orioles! How cool. And I’m jealous you get more woodpeckers - I’ve not seen any red-headed or pileated woodpeckers here. We do have a red-bellied fella that woke me up this morning drumming on the gutters.

I put up suet ( Woodpecker kind ) out pretty far but still within seeing distance. Takes a while but they will come if there are any around.

Maybe Blue Birds or Indigo Buntings??

Blue ??

Indigo buntings. And rose-breasted grosbeaks too!

Thanks, Glad you follow the thread.

CC had over 900 Pictures.

I kept 77

Did not circle any good stuff, you will need to look close at a few.

More birds:
20 new start here.

Do squirrels ever try to raid the suet feeder?

Knock on wood, so far not this one. The old one I had rope and they could get out to it but this one has small wire and maybe they won’t try to go that far.

This one is so busy and the Blue jays are so aggressive that they may stay away for that reason.
Plus they have a tray full of sunflower seeds that is easy to get into.

Right now, the problem is that 2 blocks of suet a day are being eaten and that alone is over $2 with tax. $$$$$

When it is just the bigger woodpeckers, the suet lasts a lot longer.

Not sure what I am going to do…

There are two feeders on the deck, water, easy to get so it must be something in the suet that they want/need. Woodpecker blocks are mostly grease and sunflower seed and the little reddish tan stuff in songbird feed which the just kick out of regular feeders when I have offered that. Not sure as this strong a response I have not had at a suet feeder before.

I put out a fresh block of pure suet in my suet feeder today and the mockingbirds were all over it. I didn’t know until this year that mockingbirds liked suet at all. Pure suet is gross and messy but the grackles don’t like it so I use it sometimes. Always interesting to put out a new food and see who shows up.

I did not know I could even get pure stuff… Hummmm :smack:
I wonder if I put out some different kinds, some of the little guys might leave the woodpecker stuff alone??? :dubious:

Make my own… ?? Hummmmm

You are giving me ideas on how to reduce my costs.

You could make your own - there are tons of recipes on the Internet.

This is the pure suet I get - it’s pricey on one hand, but since the nuisance birds and squirrels don’t like it, it lasts much longer. I’ve also heard good things about this other brand too. They go in the fridge until I am ready to use them. With the hot weather coming up, I’ll probably cut them in half and put them out as needed.

Good links, Thanks…

I will save and Get a better look when my eyes are not crossed. Bawahahahaha

Zeus is sleeping late in the AM and the deer have figured that out so they are coming to the bird feed. Bawahahahaha

Poor Zeus, works on Guard Duty all night and finally goes to sleep about 04:30. Deer are then sneaking in. I don’t have the heat to tell him about it.

66 Pictures because “Deer”…

I saw a Cardinal.

You’re getting a nice selection! You have motivated me to set up my [del]cat entertainment[/del] bird feeders. (They’re indoor kitties, so it’s watching through the windows for them.) We have woodpeckers in the trees behind the house. If I can lure them closer, maybe I can figure out which kind.

There’s also a large owl, but I only hear him. I haven’t seen him. (He’s one reason the cats stay inside though.)

Try & get some pictures. always want to see what others get to see.

When I stepped outside, the silver was intense. By the time the camera, extra light person and all was set up in the dark, it had washed out a bit but still… I had never seen this before.
