Our Moose. Named him Fredrick. The pic was taken from my deck. Looks like a 2x zoom from my Android phone, about 25 feet away. Got about a dozen pics of the guy growing up.
He did a nice job keeping the dandelions down
We lost a kitten to an owl or hawk down on the mountain once.
Lost a great cat to a fan belt when he snuck into a truck engine compartment and we did not check it before starting.
2 of our cats are over 16 years old and they all have been outside in the day & in at dark for the most part. Sometimes one will just not come in but so far we have not lost one of them.
We leave them with claws, hard on us & the furniture but that is what we feel they need.
Got 8 and holding that number foe a long time we hope.
Been trying to erase the word sucker that seems to be on out foreheads.

You do know that photo is shopped. Or it’s a woosh on me. Anyway, they are magnificent. Oddly, the moose is quite as a mouse. I never hear them.

I just started from you ‘velvet’ picture and came to that one. I did not snap to the fact that I have seen that picture before and the attendant fussing about it.
Still, being on the same ground without a fence between me and the critter is always a thrill.
I understand that they can move very carefully and quiet. Been close to black bears and some pretty big cats in the wild but never anything as majestic as a Moose.
Wait, I take that back, I was in NH at a MC mandatory meeting and we were warned about not messing with moose’es and I did meet one at duck on a blacktop road. Was me and a couple other bikes and we just waited until it moved off. But I was not alone and on foot which up the level of an encounter by about X10.
I would love to live up high, got several sisters that do, but at my age, I need more oxygen than you 10K footers need.
Cats are messing up the ‘Rock Garden’ pictures.

I think the cold, wet, snow, magic, gremlins, Zeus, something – brought many critters back last night & today. I still have not gotten another second camera for the rock garden so I am moving the one camera twice a day. It confuses Zeus as to where we are going. He does not seem to get the explanation I am giving him. He is too smart & does not grasp ‘stupid’ as only I can do it.
Throw Back Thursday
Trying some things different to help keep the birds safe from cats and me from having to move the camera all thew time. Will be able to tell more with tomorrow’s pictures.
Took Zeus on a long walk, well, he walked a lot & I watched and he is a pooped puppy tonight. It did not keep him from being stubborn at one place we stopped. Met a Lab that was almost as big as he is. When it was timne to go, he was not hep on the idea so I kept being patient, pleasant, consistent and finally caught him facing the right way, crowded him from behind and in he went. I am bigger & more stubborn than he is and I told him so. Bawahahaha
Picasa is not letting me ‘hot link’ so all you get is a link to the start of todays pictures. I don’t like their making me go through Google+ & I know a lot of folks won’t go there. Still looking for soimething better but not happy with other photo hosting sites either.
It must be me because every improvement pushed out is always worse for me and what I like to do.
I may have to set up my own server but the security if that is a worry for me.
