Crural Index and the Chinese

So I heard that the smaller the ratio between the Femur and Tibia, the colder the place you live in. So how come people from Northern China (cold) are supposedly taller on average than the Southern Chinese (warm)?

That’s a non-sequitur. Why would different ratios between the sizes of your upper and lower legs imply differences in height?

Oh 'cause umm, this thing on evolution said that Innuits have much shorter tibias compared to the Masai who have tibia’s almost as long as their femurs.
