The newspaper story about the tragic death of a NFL football player recently, noted the autopsy did not find any explanation, but that samples had been sent to a forensic lab for toxicology reports. It will take three to four weeks to get the results.
I also have noticed that when police send DNA samples for testing, it usually takes several months before results are returned.
It’s too bad they can’t send them to the labs in CSI or NCIS, as the technicians there can get results in 20 minutes or so. Even faster if the boss yells at them.
Sheesh, no kidding. Get Greg or Abby on it. They’d turn up their music really loud, dance around the lab, crack wise with their boss, and have the whole thing solved in less than 20 minutes.
Well, actually they’d spend a lot of time forming seemingly obvious alternate theories only to have each shot down by alibis or minor biological facts (the witness says the husband did it! But he was in New Mexico at the time. The blood evidence says the brother did it! But his blood has an antibody lacking in the sample. The DNA evidence says the son did it! But while his blood has the antibody, he’s afraid of blood. Therefore the daughter did it, and we’re out of time, so that’ll have to do.)
