I always loved the album from back in the day and thought it never got enough credit. Anyone else feel the same?
It’s Déja Vu, dude.
You’re right, but you’re also nitpicking.
De Javu? Really? And you think correcting that is nitpicking? Whatever.
That said, the album consistently ranks in the top one or two hundred of all time in various polls. I don’t see how that can be called underrated by any reasonable definition.
Okay. I now see that I mangled the spelling. I thought he was getting on my case for not having those weird thingys over the letters. My bad.
I’ve loved it since it came out (with a gap of a couple of decades when I never heard it) so it’s not underrated by me, at least!
I knew you were going to post that.
Oh, no: there’s a glitch in the Matrix.
Tell me you’re joking Dibbs. If you asked some random guy on the street to name a CSN&Y song there’s a 90% chance the song they name will be on this album.
It’s great, but it’s not underrated.
Exactly. In my younger days, I thought that it was actually a greatest hits compilation.
It’s not as good an album as Ab Erode.
What about the tribute album: Cros, By Stills & Nash
Or the song cycle about a young immigrant to the U.S. - Amer: I Can Dream.
Excellent and well-appreciated music then, and the same now. I think it gets ‘lost’ for a while and rediscovered again, but I wouldn’t say its underappreciated.
Exactly. It certainly wasn’t underappreciated when it came out. The collaboration with Neil Young, the genre-fusing blend of music, three hit singles, hitting #1 on the album chart, even the unusual billing of Dallas Taylor and Greg Reeves. There was a lot to talk about, and it was all discussed.
I’ve noticed that CS&N (and sometimes Y) have gone in and out of fashion over the years, but respect for their music has remained consistent.
My favorite classic rock trivia question: what are the 6 names on the cover of CSN&Y’S Deja Vu?
For people of an age, that’s an easy one. Except I initially said George instead of Greg. :smack:
I’m glad my post generated a little interest. To many way of thinking this album should be in everyone’s top twenty (with Sgt. Pepper’s at #1, of course).
Here it is in its entirety, should you care to take a listen: Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Woodstock - YouTube
But I would bet that if you did a random street poll, less than 90% would even know that the album exists.:dubious:
I think the song is “Immigration Man” off Four Way Street.
