CTA Fare Increase

I just got an email today from the CTA telling me the fares are going up.

Seems strange I never heard of this before today. What’s going on here? I can understand if they have to increase fares, but why no press coverage? Last year they screamed and they got a tax increase? What happened to that?

How come newspapers no longer care about things like this?

  1. It’s been known for quite a while. It was reported in the papers, in the news, and even on CTA vehicles.

  2. BTW – if you think WE have it bad now at $2.25 a ride, in New York the MTA is raising fares to THREE BUCKS A POP. Youch! And they’ve been $2/ride for at least ten years…
