My son is a pretty normal kid, a bit small, but otherwise OK. He just had his 2.5 year appointment at the pediatrician and they had no concerns.
There is one thing that I forgot to ask the doctor. He hits his head a lot. Since he was learning to walk at ~15 months, he has always fallen way more than his sister did. And of course he always lands with his head first.
I would estimate that between 15 months to 2.5 years he has had three times as many head injuries as his sister. And they seem more forceful. My wife and I have joked that he was originally going to be as smart as Einstein, but we are just hoping for above average at this point.
Most medical online resources talk about concussions with toddlers seem to be black/white. If they didn’t have a full concussion, then they are fine.
However, it seems that the whole CTE worry is growing and some people are even saying stuff like don’t let your kids play contact sports. I feel like my toddler plays football every day of his life.
Should I be worried? I know every little boy has bumps, it is just that his head seems to take so much abuse.
