Cub Food. You are fuckers plain and simple

My son moved to the midwest and so we wanted to buy Cub gift cards for him. Tried it once for a $100 card and they charged me then I found out like 15 minutes later that their security contractors said my transaction was unsafe and I couldn’t get the card. Oh and we’ll refund your money whenever we get around to it. So I call Cub and they cannot tell me why I’m a security risk or why it was denied. No, you see to protect my privacy the security contractor does not tell Cub why they rejected it. Ok then, give me the contact information for your security contractor. But they can’t do that as their security contractor must remain anonymous. So there is no way whatsoever to find out why they rejected the card I paid for OR how to fix the situation. So today I decided to get the Egiftcard. Maybe, just maybe they saw I was ordering the card to a shipping address with no Cubs around so there shouldn’t be any problem doing an Egiftcard right?

Ordered. Charged. Rejected.

How the fuck an I supposed to get this fucking gift card so my son can get help with his grocery bills. No one fucking knows and no one fucking cares. They are just fuckers.

Did you use the same card that had already been rejected?

I didn’t know Cub still existed. I shopped at one long ago, but it long since disappeared from my neck of the woods. From what I found online, there appear to be 107 of them left, almost all in Minnesota.

Did you do a chargeback on your credit card?

Instead of buying a retailer-specific gift card, why not instead buy a prepaid Visa or Mastercard card? Or send him a debit card tied to a bank account that you can fund as necessary.

Another option would be to buy a gift card for some other store that he shops at, so that he can use that money to buy food.

Some people are slow learners.

There were nine Cub Foods in Colorado when I lived in Denver. They pulled out of the state in 2003.

I expected a rant about Malcontent Salmon.

When I help out my son financially, I just do direct e-transfers. The money appears in his account almost instantly, along with a confirmation email to me.

I do the transfers via Interac, which apparently is a Canadian network, but surely the banks down there must have facilities for e-transfers that would obviate the need for gift cards. If necessary, ask your bank. Getting cash would also give him the most flexibility on where to spend it.

Down here it’s Zelle.

I use that when my wife or mom need money.

Nope. First time was a credit card, Second was a debit card just in case that was the problem. Like I said, I have no clue why it got rejected.

They returned the funds after a week.

Because he’s an idiot and we want to get him a card that he can only use in the grocery store and not buy some useless shit off the internet then he complains he’s broke and has no food.

We do. We get him a gas card and a Costco card but see above.

See above.
