I’m taking this Cuban Revolution class and we were talking about all the great things Castro enacted when he first came into power, like all of the agrarian reforms, etc. However, I don’t understand WHY the direction of the government changed so dramatically. One minute they’re trying to give land to the peasants and next they’re quashing basic freedoms. Was there a specific moment when they did this or were they doing that from the beginning but it wasn’t as obvious because of the land distrubution and whatnot?
