Cuban art in the US: forbidden?

I have recently purchased a painting by a cuban artist, and I started wondering what the legal issues in the US regarding cuban art are. Is it illegal to purchase, import and own cuban art in the US? Are artistic expressions included in the embargo?

I posted here since it relates to the arts, but if you feel it belongs in another forum, please feel free to move it.

i don’t think the State Department is going to break down your door anytime soon. Even under the severest of economic restrictions, cultural and artistic exchanges seem to be encouraged.

Hell, Al Haig used to smoke Cuban cigars all the time. When asked about trading with the enemy, he responded by saying he preferred to think of it as burning their crops.

Thanks for your answer Mr. Moto.
I should clarify though, I don’t live in the US, and even if I were I would not be at all worried about it. I was just wondering if it would be somehow illegal, or if the arts are excluded from the embargo.
