Everything gets stored up, with the exception of martini glasses (those are stored in an alternating up/down pattern so they won’t take up as much room) and wine glasses (always down, since the set we have is a little top-heavy and I feel they’re more stable upside-down)
We keep ours right side up. Just the way both of us always have. If it’s been awhile since we’ve used ne, then we’ll give it a quick wash before using it.
Oh, and our toilet paper goes over the top, like God intended it should.
Glasses are stored upside down.
In the dishwasher.
Everything comes out of the dishwasher dry (maybe not clean, but they’re dry, dammit) and they go in upside down.
I just drink out of the carton.
Upside down. I’m not that concerned about a little dust on the rims. Unfortunately, I have lived with several roomies who want them upside-up. So I also blow into cups prior to usage.
I have twice (twice!) almost ingested dead flies prior to the institution of such practices. Once as a small child, which was rather…traumatic.
Side note: did you know that housefly wings are chewy?
That’s pretty much my option too. I store my glasses upside-down because I only use them when guests come over (not often). Otherwise I drink out of a water bottle I replace as needed.
Ours are kept upside down. I fecking hate it, but suck it up because I hold a minority opinion.
My main reason is (as above) I don’t see the point in washing the glass if you’re going to put the rim in contact with a surface that’s only washed once a year.
Even bits of peeling paint regularly sticking to the rims of coffee mugs have not done enough to change opinions on this subject. I just resign myself to rinsing glasses and mugs before I use them.
Upside down, of course… like all civilized people.
We have shelf paper that is… rippled? Is that the word?.. so condensation isn’t an issue.
Upside-down. There’s a lot of dust in my apartment. I’m not sure why; maybe it’s the neighbourhood.
So you’re gonna grind the rim that will be touching your lips into that dust?
Cleaning the rim is less annoying then cleaning the interior.
Every bar I’ve ever been to has a rack that hold their glasses in a downward facing posistion. That is how my glasses get stored too, except ones that that store better in a different posistion such as my mason jars. Shot glasses are stored facing up so you can see/read the glasses. My mugs are in the freezer awaiting alcoholic beverages.
Mine are right side up. No reason why. Just put them that way without even thinking about it.
We have two sets of glasses. My sister’s get alternated, because then we get more in the cabinet and it looks neater. Mine get stored open side up.
Rightside up.
Upside down seems to trap residual particle board chemical stink.
Upside down, put away dry. However, I have a habit which my mother deems “maddening”, in that - no matter what I’m about to use the glass for - whenever I take it down from the shelf, I immediately rinse the entire thing under running water. I don’t know how or why I got into this habit, but I was very small when it began. I’m sure it’s a waste of water, but it’s deeply ingrained at this point, and hard to stop.
I’m not even that squicked out by the “EW GERMS!” thing, and I certainly don’t live in the world created by Lysol. It just feels like I’m supposed to do it.
Hah! You’re all wrong! Half the glasses are stored upside down, half, downside down. It lets you cram more of 'em in the cupboard! (if the vast majority of your non-stemware is cmprised of pint glasses, anyways)
Right side up. The air is cleaner than the shelf.
Upside down…but that’s just because that’s how they get loaded into the dishwasher, where they will remain until the sink is full of dirty dishes again.
Yay for bachelor life.
