Cutter's Way film

Just watched again for at least the 10th time. What is it about this that resonates with me so?

It was called Cutter and Bone when I saw it. I liked it far more than most people did but not as much as the Guardian critic John Patterson:

Cutter’s Way is a movie that starts yielding up its real treasures around the third viewing, so stick with it (you’ll hate the ending first time out). I’ve seen it perhaps 30 times – it may be my favourite American movie – and, unlike its three broken leads, I have still yet to hit bottom. For once, the word is appropriate: masterpiece.

Yeah, I don’t get that movie. I think you can learn to appreciate almost anything with multiple viewings, for a while.

Could you provide some insights into why you think it might resonate with you?
