Cynthia Ann McKinney -- a victim of hubris?

McKinney apparently has a rare talent for making unnecessary enemies. An article in today’s Atlanta Journal and Constitution said that Indians turned out to vote against her and donated money to her opponent because they were deeply offended by comments she’d made about the government of India supposedly encouraging attacks against Muslims in India. Apparently this wasn’t just a religious thing, either. One of the Indians quoted in the article was a Muslim who had been offended by her remarks.

They also ran an editorial by a Muslim who claimed she’d been defeated by the machinations of the Israel lobby.

This isn’t a knock, December, but I have a long standing semantics gripe that your post here prompted me to get out. It is possible to be anti-Israeli without being anti-Semitic.

I’m a case in point. I detest the state of Israel but have nothing but support for practicioners of the Jewish faith. It pisses me off to no end that when I criticize Israel I’m almost always labeled anti-Semitic. I’m anti-Zionist, which is hugely different.

I’m not saying you misused the terms at all, but like I said, your post prompted me to speak up. I hope you don’t mind, and I hope the OP doesn’t mind the brief hijack.

Carry on

Shes an idiot and a racist. Hubris is being kind.
