BTW, as you say, his ethics are fine (means no harm, heart in the right place, and all). You should have said he is “ideologically naive.” Or “dumb as a rock on a lot of issues.” Or “crazy as a shithouse rat but nice and acquits himself well in a fight.”

That, I believe, is what set Olentzero off. Right at the end of the thread he got a slew of that sort of compliment. One may not agree with his politics, but the term (for example) “batshit insane” should probably be reserved for those who are actually batshit insane. Nowhere in that thread did he demonstrate that he is.
While I’m not a mod, and I’m certainly not Czarcasm, maybe he figured it was turning into a pitting? Your OP was primarily criticism of Nader, and then the next post in was friedo saying “Ralph Nader is an idiot”. Then, the sixth post in, Bookbuster said,

I moved it to the BBQ Pit pretty much for the reasons Captain Amazing, and others, gave. A thread critical of a political leader during an election year tends to head in a certain direction real fast, and that direction usually isn’t uphill. What did I base my decision on? Prior experience. If it is any consolation, I almost moved it to Great Debates.
Oh, and Libertarian? I would explain my political philosophy with you, if I thought you were capable of understanding anything more complicated than simplistic jingoisms. “Liberal”, indeed. :rolleyes:

As for friedo and bookbuster, you absolute fuckwits, if you don’t have anything constructive to add to a thread that’s not in the Pit, don’t fucking post. Your fucking irresponsible actions may have cost me a friendship with someone whose opinions and voice I generally respect. If you can’t hold your fucking tongues, start your own thread in the Pit and don’t hijack threads that aren’t trying to be Pit candidates in the first place.
