D.A.R.E

Walking to lunch today, I saw a cop car emblazoned with the slogan “D.A.R.E. to keep kids off drugs.”

Thought, “Yeah, right.” I’m not a big fan.

On the way back to work, I saw a black bumper sticker with red and white lettering and the bold word “D.A.R.E.”

Thought, “Man, the propaganda is getting a little heavy.” Then I noticed the bumper sticker said “D.A.R.E. to keep cops off donuts.”

Brightened my day.

Hope he doesn’t get pulled over for speeding.

I once saw a T-shirt that read ‘D.O.P.E.: Your kids are on drugs.’

That DARE program sucks ass. They have no evidence that it even works, but it’s so politically popular no one dares to kill it. I read a quote from its executive director saying “We don’t NEED to evaluate the program, because it was developed based on proven educational techniques.” Also “Kids like it, so we know it works.”

Don’t get me started…

It’s okay in big cities. Not in small ones where kids don’t know about that stuff, then they do from that program. Pretty soon they are real curious about the drugs & start getting in to them.

I went through DARE> it was absolutely useless to me and all the people who went through it with me. Whoever was inclined to experiment with drugs did anyway, and those who didn’t stayed that way.
