Is it true that Da Vinci threw objects down from the Tower of Pisa in order to test his theories? This issue came up in class the other day, and I just can’t help thinking it’s just a myth.
It is almost certainly a myth. I was just reading about this the other day, but I can’t remember where.
I did find this staff report: If a feather and a hammer are dropped together, won’t the hammer hit the ground first?
And, of course, the person who never threw things off the leaning tower of Pisa was Gallileo, not Da Vinci.
Oh, sure, I was reading about Da Vinci and did this “missnaming”. Thanks.
