I think Samantha’s supposed to be the extremely sarcastic one. She’s one who never expresses surprise at any of the interviewee’s crazy rants, even joining them or taking it to the next level. Some correspondents are still somewhat grounded who actually expresses shock at some of the stuff they hear, so they are supposed to be the stand-in for the audience I suppose.
