Daleks vs. Borg

{ding ding ding}

In this corner, from “Doctor Who,” rolling around on wheels, voices grating on your nerves, mostly machine but biological brain components… The Daleks! ("Exterminate! Exterminate!)

And in this corner, from “Star Trek,” lurching from place to place, collective consciousness-raising, half biological and half technological… The Borg! (“Resistance is futile - you will be assimilated.”)

Who’d win? (And don’t use that “Daleks can’t go up stairs” issue, because it’s my understanding they can hover to get around - it was addressed in either one of the later shows or in the books or somesuch.)

Personally, I would just love to see a scene with Davros and the Borg Queen - it’d be worth the price of admission (much like Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan playing chess was in “X-Men”).

Esprix

Esprix, you are asking the wrong questions…The Daleks would get creamed. They lack the imagination because they are becoming more robot like as time goes on.
The right question to ask, is what would happen if you had a Star Trek Redshirt (Member, Targets Anonymous) go up against a star wars stormtrooper (Proud Graduate of the Imperial Marksmanship Acadamy)? What happens when the Barn Door meets the guy that couldn’t hit it?

LMAO!

Esprix, are we talking about back when the Borg were cool and all but indefeatable?

Or, are we talking about the Borg who are now more or less self-aware, dream of living in a forest, and tell Borg children that “assimilation makes us all friends”?

The original Borg would assimilate or destroy the Daleks tout suite. However, if the losers on Voyager can defeat the Borg while having problems with the follicly-challenged Kazon, the Daleks would extreminate them in nothing flat.

Now, if the Cardassians get their act back together and go back to their conquering ways, then we might have something

Palandine the Spoonhead

I suppose I should actually add something to this thread rather than throwing around 'net acronyms…

I agree with Palandine. The original Borg would kick *ss because they would adapt to their new enemy whereas the Daleks would simply proceed mindlessly.

We’ve seen the Borg’s fighting abilities against various other species and they can beat almost anyone (except for Species #### and presumably the Q). But IIRC, we’ve never had much info on the Daleks other than their being really tough (run away! run away!). Just how powerful are their death rays?

Exterminate vs. Assimilate

The Daleks have plungers for one limb and lasers for the other. Perhaps they could stick the Borg with the plunger and shoot them with the laser. This would give them a distinct advantage man to man despite the fact that giant salt and pepper shakers obviously have limited mobility.

My money’s on the Borg. The Daleks can be defeated by a lunatic who wears a long scarf and carries some kind of sonic screwdriver in his pocket.

Plus, IIRC, there are only about 4 or 5 Daleks - Dr. Who producers didn’t have the budget to produce more.

Check the history for the big “Redshirt Ensigns vs. Stormtroopers” match.

The Daleks are a joke. I could defeat them. Heck, the change machine at the laundromat could defeat them. The only things slowing the Borg down are plot convenience and embarassing itch.
