Damn Bills.

First of the month. Paying bills.

Dammit, people should just give me stuff free. I deserve it.

Because I’m me.

If I gave up my libertarian leanings and signed up for socialism you think the bank would forgive the damn mortgage?

Which, I might point out, went up $450 per month because the county needs to pay for schools and services on the OTHER side of the county. Meanwhile we can’t even get the damn stop light re-timed properly.

Crap.

Hmm, I thought this thread might be about the Buffalo football team, or pending legislation in Congress, or guys named William.

C’mon, man, just out-compete the Socialists and earn more money. Then they can rail against you as a malefactor of wealth.

If the county were libertarian this wouldn’t be an issue!

Sadly, it’s not libertarian…it’s Loudoun.

Sadly.

That’s what happens when you vote for state-level government on the basis of candidates’ promises to hold down taxes. The local ones have to pick up those functions and you pay as much anyway. Same thing when the feds dump it onto the states. This libertarian-conservatism stuff is a con game.

I think that if your tax bill on your house went up $450. per month that you are in a postion to pay for things.

Or were you just bragging?

I think that if you buy something new, it should stay new forever, then I wouldn’t feel so bad about paying for it (forever).

Bragging about money is degrading.

My tax bill went up because the county double-teamed me (and all of us out here in farm-country…

  1. Raise the assessment
  2. Raise the rate.
  3. Profit!

With trepidation as to turning this in to something more that it should be (sorry, JC) I find myself more and more wanting to abondon the “Conservative” movement in favor of Liberarianism (?) even though it is a losing cause. If GWB is the poster-child of conservatism I’ve had enough.

I’ll go back to drinking my cheap wine now, excuse me.

Hell with that.

I’ve got some of the $8 a bottle Raspberry wine you can have.

Bullshit Pile, I can’t hear you.

I’m drinking box wine out of a Solo cup. Get more redneck than that.

I thought we were supposed to be drinkin’ home brew from a wooden cup so the people dancing can get all shook up.

You want services, you’re going to pay for them. That’s all.

The “con game” remark was in reference to the libertarian illusion that cutting one level of government, but not all, has any real bottom-line effect, and for some the greater illusion that the services they expect would keep coming somehow even without being paid for.

Ok, winner. Well, change “wooden cup” to Mason jar and you’re a winner.

I think the judges will accept late 2003 Almalden Blush Chablis in a red Solo cup. I could be wrong.

[/hijack]

Well, the ‘libertarian illusion’ maintains that services ain’t necessarily…um…necessary.

To assume that libertarians want the same level of services for less taxes reveals a lack of understanding of libertarianism.

Besides, that’s what the American Public wants (more services for less taxes). Check your representatives voting record. And I don’t even have to know what district you’re in. So it ain’t like that’s libertarian-specific. That’s dumbass specific.

Ok, Johnny Serious Man. I’m all for the broad principles outlined on the Libertarian Party’s main page:

I’m far too drunk to have a rational debate about this right now but perhaps we can have one in the near future. Right now we’re supposed to be lamenting Mr. Chance’s financial woes.

I hear that semen and plasma have a fairly high resale value. Perhaps this can rectify <snort> your situation.

Have another drink. You’re still making sense.

No, no, no.

The Amercian Public wants lower Federal taxes. It’s why we voted the GOP into Federal office. Now instead of bitching about the Feds taking all our money we can bitch about our states or local municipalities taking all our money.

And you can disagree with me if you want, I don’t care. I’m just relating the whines to which I was subjected on Turkey Day.

Most people don’t have a property tax bill of $450 per month much less a property tax bill that could go up $450 per month, I think you are bragging (IMO).
