Damn. George Carlin is dead.

He can’t do that, can he? Link

I would appreciate it if someone would ask that this thread be closed.

Thanks.

Shit, Piss, Cunt, Fuck, Motherfucker, Cocksucker, Tits!

Tits shouldn’t even be on the list.

That was deeply moving, Argent. Exactly the right thing to say.

I can thank a student for turning me on to Carlin. I laughed till I was sick and the student and I became lifetime friends. Thanks, Mac!

I’m going to miss the old geezer’s word jazz. And even the way he could always find something to piss me off. He’s doing it again…

Pardon me, I do not want to ruin the tribute thread. But this is the Pit.

Comeon. The guy had not been funny for more than 20 years. He was a master of wordplay as a young man, but became a nasty, grouchy old man. He cursed at his audience. Have you seen him perform in the last fifteen years? A shadow of his former self.

There are worse things than death that can happen to an entertainer, he can stay on stage too long.

A fate which did not befall Dick Shawn!

God bless George Carlin & I hope He laughed heartily at Carlin’s sputtering apologies & welcomed him in.

I’ll take his rants against the nanny state over that “Wonderful WINO” schtick any day.

NOOOOOO! Mr. CONDUCTOR!

The paintings on the wall just won’t be the same…

It’s something out of a more innocent (i.e., dumbass) time.

Carlin was known for doing things people thought he couldn’t.

I wonder whether the list is even comprehensible to a generation that has never known fewer than 200 channels, and can’t remember a time without South Park and Skinemax.

I tend to side with Paul; I’m torn between admiring Carlin for working right up until his death and disdain because he should’ve retired at least 10 years ago. His later performances degenerated into pure misanthropy (with occasional gems scattered throughout the dungheap), and his obviously ailing health was becoming a distraction in itself, à la Dick Clark. Each of the last two or three shows of his on HBO I was sure would be his last.

Nonetheless, he has some impressive laurels upon which to rest.

I’m starting to think I should have called in today. Sick is just how I feel about this.

Agree. I tend to think he left the role of funnyman for that of dark folk philosopher. Carlin abhorred bullshit, and cynicism is a shelter from an awful lot of it.

In accordance with his wishes, I hope he’s nowhere right now, doing, thinking and feeling nothing, just Fuckin’ Dead.

I think that people above missed that this was the next line in that bit. “New Nabisco Tits!”

RIP. :frowning:

“There’s Corn Tits, Onion Tits, Sesame Tits . . . Tater Tits [audience roars] . . . Betcha can’t eat just one!”

“That’s true… I usually switch off.”

I liked him but found his humor only good in small does, lest I start desiring to cut myself in despair. RIP dude.
