I’m sick to death of feeling like I’ve been bashed about the head with a bat and nothing helping for any extended amount of time. I’d write a clever post, but damnit my brain doesn’t want to work at the moment.
I am a very headachy person also… its horrible. Have you gotten this checked out???
Is it allergies or migraines or stress?? I had back trouble that was resulting in headaches (all caused by stress in the end though I didn’t find that out til recently).
I think you should see the Doc if these are very frequent.
I had an MRI done about 6 months ago… it didn’t explain anything. I’m currently on my 5th medicine to try an help. Bad part is this is one of the kind you have to take for awhile before it builds up enough in your system to maybe help. These have some quailties like migraines, some qualities like sever (sp?) tension headaches… Basically I’m a screwed up mess that can’t be figured out. These last anywhere from 1/2 a day to several days straight. Been getting them for years. I was at the dr’s office 2 weeks ago, I go again in 2 more weeks. sigh Headaches suck!
Migraines here.
What pisses me off is that I’m not supposed to take Imitrex unless I’m sure it’s not a regular headache, so I take Ibuprofen first and wait. Then, when it’s obvious that it’s not working, it’s too late and the migraine has settled in for a long stay. I went to work this morning optimistic that today’s headache would go away and ended up coming home two hours later and went back to bed.
Even after the migraine is gone I’m wiped out. I’m just grateful that they’re infrequent, or I’d bash my head in.
That sounds awful. Maybe you’re having “cluster headaches”. I hear they’re the worst!
Yeah, the achey, sore headed after the headache is almost as bad as the headaches themselves. I feel for anyone who deals with the buggars.
I know how you feel. I have migraines. For awhile now, I’ve been on ellavil (not sure about the spelling). That seems to help. I don’t get them nearly as often (before taking it, I was getting them every one to two days). Also, as soon as I feel a migrane coming on (I can tell the difference between them and a normal headache) I take Excedrin. However, this only works if I take it before it’s fully reached its worst.
Dreamer… it sounds odd but the thing that really worked for me was going to see a chiropractor. I had some issues with my back also which is why I went to him but had been getting totally blinding headaches for several weeks (you know, the kind where you see stars and bright lights really hurt). After several sessions with him, the headaches stopped totally and have not come back.
He explained that tension in any area of your spine causes the surrounding tissues to tense up, thereby, causing nerve pain - resulting, in my case, in back pain and headaches.
Have you ever been in a car accident? Perhaps you could try this… also a friend of mine swears by acupuncture. I wouldn’t rule out the traditional medical route by any means but I would try and find out if anything else helps too.

I’d love to go to a chiropractor… I’ve been before and it helps with some other aches and such, unfortunatly I’ve not been in years and my current insurance doesn’t pay a dime on chiro visits. And since I know I’d have to get x-rays and start out with several visits per week for several weeks before I could even consider getting on a maintaince type schedual I can’t afford it.
I have been in a couple minor accidents, years ago, but also years after these headaches began.
Headaches are the worst. I get migranes a couple of times a week, have done since I was tiny. First day in a new job yesterday and I had a pounding headache that developed into a full-blown migrane by the time I’d got home. I met a girl once who explained to me with a serene smile that she’d never had a headache and had no concept of what that would feel like. I felt like smacking her hard in the head repeatedly in order to demonstrate.
