Damn Knots!

I think I’m getting old. :frowning: I keep waking up with knots on my sholder and back and spend the whole day in slight discomfort before going over to my boyfriend’s place and getting a back massage from him. The poor thing, there is only so much he can do before I wake up the next morning all sore again. Maybe it’s because I don’t excercise enough… whatever it is, it’s annoying!!

You know he’s dead, don’t you?

Knots aren’t bad, you just need to practice them. My favorite is the double one-handed bowline on a bight.

 ,** Doc.**

Sounds like you need a new bed. Brand new mattresses can do wonders for aching joints and muscles. If you can’t afford them right now, at least get a new pillow. Having your head and neck properly supported may help just as much as the new mattresses. You can always find them on sale for real cheap too.

Good luck.

I don’t know about damning knots, but I do know about damning the bloke who tied them. See the curse of Ernulphus in Laurence Sterne’s “Life & Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gent.”

OOoooh, knots… /homer

Obviously, you or your boyfriend should move. This way you can get a massage in the morning, when it will do the most good. If you can’t do that, a good shower massage might help a bit, and never overlook the benefits of aspirin and other NSAIDS.

$tretch? Have you tried stretching?.

I made that one once during a Basic Vehicle Resuce course.

My instructor took one look and said, “I know what that is!” ;j

 I beemed with pride that my days from BSA were being put to good use.

The instructor finished with, “That’s a Yugo knot.”

" " I said.

“You go first.”

My pride quickly stopped beeming… :frowning:

Is it painful or stiff?
If it’s stiff and it doesn’t go away after an hour, and if it’s in both shoulders, or any other joints, you should see a doctor.

Inflammatory arthritides (like rheumatoid and Ankylosing Spondylitis) often start with pain and stiffness (but mostly stiffness) on waking, especially in the hands, lower back, neck and shoulders.

If this is starting to seriously affect you, go and make sure it isn’t something more serious than an old mattress and a bad sleeping position.

I actually already have an ergonomic pillow and my mattress supposedly a good one. My parents got me the mattress when I was 13, so I don’t know the exact details for it. I don’t wake up with knots everyday, maybe about three times a week, and it doesn’t bother me enough to get off my lazy ass and make an appointment. Ah well, I guess I’ll keep relying on the boy for more massages.
