It’s a bit technical but this is rocket science we’re talking about. It does make the point that you get to the moon in a few really precisely timed burns of your rocket and a lot of coasting. Lots of interesting background too.

Let’s remember that the Saturn V was 36 stories tall, of which about 34 stories of which were fuel. If you look at the cross-section diagrams on the Wikipedia pages, you’ll see that the rocket stages really are pretty much big fuel tanks. Other than the engines, there’s very little else in there. And, of course, as pmwgreen says, it’s mostly coasting. That’s why there’s no gravity in the capsule – if they were under acceleration the whole time, they’d be feeling it in the form of artificial gravity, the same way you’re pressed back in your seat when you hit the gas in your car.
