Damn Sopranos!

Why the hell is it advertised as an hour long, when the show begins at 8:00, with that 4 minute introduction, and then the credits roll at 8:50?

I know I sound like the Comic Book Guy from the Simpson’s, but it really pisses me off.

*CBG: Last night’s Itchy & Scratchy was, without a doubt, the worst episode ever. Rest assured I was on the internet within minutes registering my disgust throughout the world.

Bart: Hey, I know it wasn’t great, but what right do you have to complain?

CBG: As a loyal viewer, I feel they owe me.

Bart: What? They’re giving you thousands of hours of entertainment for free. What could they possibly owe you? I mean, if anything, you owe them.

CBG: Worst episode ever.

I suppose if you whine long enough, they could insert commercials to fill out the hour.

I assume you get it on HBO, commercial free?
Well, the extra time is to accomodate commercials. I think its pretty standard.
Get over it.

kellibelli, the extra time can’t be for commericals.

First, it’s on HBO. They don’t need to start anything on the hour, half-hour format, so they can run their commericals whenever they want. Second, as you said, it’s supposed to be commercial free. Third, if it were for commericals, there would be more like 22 minutes chooped out than 14. Four, why “get over it”? Isn’t this the place where we can rant without getting over it?

I know, I know…I’ll get over it.

Oh, well. We can always make more killbots.

I dont know why the show runs a funny length…Oz does too, and its another commercial free one…BUT we have to assume that they are cavering the eventuality that they may HAVE to insert commercials someday.

You are right, dont get over it <slaps forehead> what the hell was I thinking?? This is the pit!!!

One word…syndication. After a show reaches 100 episodes it is available for syndication (it can be put into syndication before that, but at 100 it has to be made available). After cutting out all the swearing and nudity and anything else the network feels is inappropriate, it would probably be closer to 22 minutes than 14 cut out.

I just wandered in to make sure you guys weren’t picking on Geddy Lee. Carry on.
