Just so no one thinks that I only take horrible beats here…
I played in a 150 man live tourney at the local dog track/poker room today…I won this tourney last year the 2nd time I ever played in it, but I generally don’t go because they rake 13 of the $45 buy in. When final table starts I’m in 7th place, but havent gotten any cards hardly and hope a rush comes. When it does, I get horrible calls from people, and suprisingly my hands hold up…I knock out 4 and cripple another, and soon there are 3 left, I have 160K chips to 35K and 25K. It gets heads up and I’m up 80% to 20%…to a kid who basically the whole final table has just been shoving it all in preflop and praying and sucking out…
1)We get it all in on a flop when I have top pair and he has nothing, but gets runner runner to make a flush and crawl back to a 65/35 deficit.
2)We get it all in again and he again has nothing, but gets runner runner to make a straight and take a 70/30 lead
3)We both flop top pair, and I have him dominated, but he gets the board to pair on the turn, and an overcard to my kicer on the river to split the pot (at this point I get an official warning for my language, as I nearly repeat my wsop performance)
4)He makes a horrible call again dominated, and this time my hand holds up, so now I’m up 60-40% in chips
5)He wins a couple of small pots, then he limps in and I have 67o in the BB…flop is Q67. He shoves all in (bluffing), I call, he gets runner runner to make another fucking flush and now I am losing my mind.
6)I get it all in with A7 pf , and of course he has AJ, and there is no justice in the world as I can’t catch up and I finish in second for $973 (first was $1690)
He asked to stop and chop twice but I said no (why chop when I know I can outplay him)
Wow. And “Ouch” on how the heads-up action went.
