And all those things occured before he had Presidential aspirations. If he really was the same man who did those things, WTF didn’t he promote the hell out of those things during his run? That would have been better than sticking that little girl up on stage at the convention and having her lecture us about Cheney’s potty mouth. Going into the '04 race, the polls were showing that any Dem could beat Shrub, then Kerry showed up and things went downhill.

A ballsy attack by Kerry, saying that Shrub was an idiot and that we needed to really kick some ass, rather than fucking around in Iraq with half measures, would have got him votes. Instead, we got vague mumblings about getting the UN to help us, and him sounding almost identical to Shrub on Iraq. It doesnt’ matter if Kerry said the things first (I don’t know if he did or not), but once the opposition starts coopting your message, you change things and point out that the otherside is a bunch of “me too” whores.

Considering all the shit he DID get because of his opposition to Vietnam (being compared to Hanoi Jane), are you really surprised?

Yeah, because Kerry’s at least seen combat, unlike Shrub, who couldn’t even be bothered to show up for guard duty. Kerry had the cred to be able to stand up and say, “I’ve seen war, and I know what it looks like when things have gone wrong.” The Republicans have proven that it’s better to attack than to defend. Kerry should have gone on the attack.

Not just foreign affairs. Remember who started EPA. He’d probably get global warming, and try to do something about it.

Maybe we should ban presidential candidates born with silver spoons in their mouths. Nixon, Clinton, and even Reagan had a lot more sympathy with the common person than either Bush.

And yes, I know FDR is a counterexample.
