I have a Hotmail account and it’s the only account I’ve had for about 4 years now. I gave that address to Amazon, Barnes and Noble, ESPN, my bank, my student loan agency, plus many others. I have no spam filters turned on and I get two or three spam messages a day. And I just delete them and don’t worry about it. I’ve never used more than 10% of my storage, as I regularly clean out my account.

Sorry, this is not true. I set up a Hotmail account a couple of months ago. I have never given the address to anyone, at any time. I get 10 spam a day through the filter. The Yahoo account I have had for 7 years, with almost the exact same account name gets a couple spam a week. That do not get through the filter. And I have given that out to all kinds of sites when signing up for things.

During your relocations, were you able to keep the same email address? That’s why I use Yahoo mail as my main personal address, it went with me when I moved, or changed providers. Yahoo works fine for me, I would only consider paying for email if the service provided something special and was with a rock solid company.
