Sounds like good news. One report I read said she was loaded into the ambulance in her dance costume. They didn’t even take time to let her change.
What happened to Melissa? Did she injure herself during the dance?
One report I saw said she hit her head. I didn’t notice anything when I saw her dance. Tom mentioned at the close of the show that she was taken to the hospital during the live show.
I know quarterbacks suffer nausea and problems with bright lights for days or even a week or two after a concussion. I hope Melissa’s next dance isn’t a waltz or anything that requires a lot of spinning.
Recap of Rock Week. Man, these pics prove there were some butt ugly costumes this week.
Sherri - didn’t look intense, she looked kind of bored for most of her dance. Her facial expression wasn’t what she thought it was.
Katherine - Mark is less Mark this year, thank goodness, because he has a good partner.
Jaleel - It didn’t work for me, but I liked his spin
Melissa - her shoulders kept creeping up and it didn’t have the intensity that it needed.
Donald - wow. That was his dance.
Gladys - I know they don’t pick their song, but can they pick what part of the song? Because the opening (“Mama, just killed a man…”) I think would have suited a tango for her better than the part of the song they danced to. It looked too busy and fussy and like she couldn’t keep up.
William - that was just a disaster
Roshon - their song didn’t even look like it belonged with the rest of the songs on the show. If they wanted them to do a waltz, couldn’t it have been some other song? Or couldn’t they have not waltzed this week and picked a song that fit the theme?
Maria - Bone fractures? That’s not going to work. But I did like the dance.
Gavin - I liked this one. Of course, it could be due to my really loving the song “Paint It Black”
Man, Gladys got screwed.
I was so freaked out by that Muzak version of “Satisfaction” that I can’t remember who danced to it … anyone?
Er, Jaleel? I recall he professed to know nothing about Mick Jagger.
That was weird, right? I mean, the guy is 35 years old and he’s been in show business since he was a tot. I think he might be exaggerating.
(Whoa, I just went to look up his age on Wikipedia and it says his first television role was as Flip Wilson and ***Gladys Knight’***s son on the CBS series “Charlie and Company”!)
Also, did anyone else not quite notice Maks’ fall at first? He fell so “gracefully” that I thought he sat down on purpose. I thought it was part of the routine. I knew at the end that something had gone wrong but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. It wasn’t until Len said that he fell that I went back and watched it. My husband said the same thing “He fell? When?”
Yup, that was it. George Jefferson, yikes. The whole segment was so horrifying I’d blanked it out.
Yanno, Week 1 I was thinking I might end up rooting for Jaleel this season, but it turns out that was a fluke – between being mean to Kym (at a bare minimum, I think it was clear he was at least unpleasant, if not outright abusive) and dissin’ on Mick – nope, sorry. Gotta pick a new fave.
Everything about Jaleel seems fake to me. I didn’t buy his “tearing up” on week 3 either.
Even without the blow-up rumors, he comes off as a real a-hole
Here’s the thing about Jaleel: I think the fact that he had a foxtrot his first week worked outrageously in his favor, because somehow he manages to make every dance he does look like a foxtrot. Somehow this week he managed to do a tango, get all the steps right (and pretty well executed) and it still looked like a foxtrot! The man does a mean foxtrot, and I love to watch him do it. Foxtrot is my favorite dance, so I enjoy watching Jaleel dance every week. But when at some point he makes a Paso look like a foxtrot, the judges’ scores are not going to be pretty.
As so often happens, the music was incredibly unsuitable for almost every dance with the exception of Roshon’s waltz. Gladys was the greatest victim, and, as seems generally to be the case, Derek managed to put together something that looked good anyway. I’d be tempted to say that even Derek couldn’t have choreographed to that section of Bohemian Rhapsody, except I remember the Psycho Tango from last season. But then, Ricky was a much better dancer than Gladys is.
aceplace57, I’m surprised that you feel that Roshon didn’t connect with his partner this week. I thought that this week was the first week in which he did connect with his partner. I thought his waltz was really lovely, balletic really.
God, when they opened with Kiss, all I could think about was Spinal Tap, and apparently I wasn’t the only one. First thing out of Bergeron’s mouth was “and they go all the way up to 11!” and of course the Stonehenge descending was wonderful.
Louis Van Amstel’s Week 4 blog. Interesting point that Carrie Ann is ignoring lifts this season. It confirms my post from last night that the judges are over scoring.
That Lift Police shtick was annoying. But the overscoring has replaced it. Bruno and his “sexsexsexysex!” is getting little bit annoying as well.
This doesn’t sound good. I hope its not Katherine or Gladys.
At the sign off, the band was playing “Another One Bites the Dust”
perfect
Ok, don’t know about anyone else but that wasn’t totally shocking (the week’s elimination). Not the person I’d choose, but certainly not in the top rank.
They did give some of the leaders a good scare. But the elimination wasn’t that surprising. It’s a shame they always seem to eliminate the people that honestly love dancing the most first. She’s one of the very few that will probably continue lessons after the show.
I hope they film the dwts Vegas shows and make a “best of” tv special. The majority of us fans don’t have the money to piss away on plane tickets to Vegas and hotel rooms. I’d love to see the show, but it will have to be on tv.
I’m amused that Bergeron is allowed to say “WTF” in his DWTS tweets!
This seasons Spotlight dances may be the very best we’ll ever see on dwts. I posted Anna and Jonathan’s dance last week.
That tango Karina did tonight with Jose Carreno was every bit as good. Just stunning perfection.
It’s his account, not the show’s.
Agree, it wasn’t a huge shock that she went – more shocking who wasn’t in the bottom two (Gladys, I’m looking at you – and Maks and Melissa, who also did badly, but who probably got the injury sympathy vote). William also had an extremely shitty dance last night, but he’s got such a fanbase I wasn’t surprised he made it through.
Glad they explained why Maks wasn’t the one to carry Melissa downstairs.
Loved Karina and Jose’s tango – that was phenomenal.
