I really hope Drew wins this thing.
Me too – but WTF about 3 9’s for their final dance? I really don’t get that.
I was actually underwhelmed by Drew’s Jive. It wasn’t fast enough. I really thought with his body he’d be great at the Jive, because he’s compact. Still, I hope he wins.
I can’t fathom that Stacy and Tony finished below Jerry and Anna - there’s no comparing their proficiency.

All about the audience vote – Jerry has a huge fan base of sports fans plus the underdog vote.
Seems like the audience vote makes it mostly a popularity contest. Jerry seems nice and has improved a lot, but he was nowhere near as good a Stacy or Drew, and anybody could see that. I think too many people don’t base their votes on who’s actually the best. But then, nobody said they had to.
Yay!
Woo Hoo!!!
It’s a bit before 5:15 as I write this, so I’ve yet to see the results. Since I missed the final (way too many commercials + Olympics on NBC = me definitely not caring enough to tune in for two flippin’ hours) I’d just like to throw in a quick question.
Stacy Kiebler is a big, heavy athlete. Not a girl. Not a skinny little waif. Why the hell is she doing a dance which requires her to be lifted?? This isn’t an internationl pairs figure skating with required elements, this is a cornball game show where half the rules aren’t even clear. Why do the one thing that’s going to be awkward for her?
I dunno…from the sound of it, I think she’s just plain had enough. Or maybe she took a look at that trophy and suddenly had second thoughts.
Incidentally, is there any prize apart from that trophy? Even a seriously flawed contest should have a suitable reward for the champion.
I think the winner gets a trophy - that’s it. No prize, just a really ugly trophy.
My favorite part was when Drew said in his interview that the trophy was ugly but he wanted it anyway. Great finale show. I was surprised that Stacey ended up in third place, but her free dance on Thursday was a huge blunder.
I just love Jerry Rice. . . not because he’s a great dancer but because he was able to commit to the program and try his best. I loved when he did his playful theft of Drew’s trophy and attempted to run off with it. I loved how gracious he was to and about Anna. (And I didn’t used to like him in his NFL days. I thought he was a bit of a hot dog.)
Yay, Drew!!! Proof that nice guys don’t necessarily finish last. Now he and his wife should have a beautiful, healthy baby and all will be perfect!
And I liked seeing all the contestants back again. Weren’t George and Edyta a smashing couple. Loved her dress!!!
Bring on DWtS #3!!!
I’ve been watching this show all along, despite having choir practice on Thursday nights.
I agree with what people were saying about Stacy and Tony’s freestyle. They were talking about taking risks in the lead up to it, to the point where I wondered if you folks were wrong (sorry), but you were right. It was dull. I think it was the worst performance I saw from them. On the other hand, I did love the afros, and it was great to see both Jerry and Anna and Drew and Cheryl cutting loose.
Does anyone else think there was something amiss with the scoring on Sunday night? When the gentleman and I saw Jerry’s final performance, we were thinking it merited 7s or so. I was watching his feet, and he seemed a bit heavy, not to mention it looked like Anna was doing the bulk of the dancing. Jerry was doing more of the “stand still and let the girl move around you” step. Stacy was better, but her scores looked a little high, too. I wonder if they were making allowances for having only two days to learn the dances.
The shows do have way too much filler, in my opinion. While it’s interesting watching the professionals dance, both the finale and the results show could easily have been done in only one hour. It was nice to see the other contestants come back and I still think Kenny, the fellow who was voted off first went too soon, but I didn’t need to see as many reprises as I did. By the way, am I the only one who noticed Master P was missing the beat during his spotlight turn?
I did love the show, though, and I can’t wait for season 3.

Will season three air in the summer?
I totally agree with you about Jerry’s performance, but I don’t think his scores from the judges mattered at that point. He was solidly in 3rd place in the judges’ scoring category and he was going to stay solidly in third place, so it didn’t matter whether he got 7s or 9s or even 10s. So why not fluff up his ego a bit? He did, after all, have to bear the brunt of Len’s “You’re the worst” comment.
The prize is exposure – invaluble to a performer. John O’Hurley went from his win to a role on B’way (Billy Flynn in Chicago), and you know Stacy’s career got a hell of a boost.
And Drew – well, two months ago, his name recognition was “No kidding, Nick Lachey has a brother?,” and now there are – literally – millions of people who think “Drew Lachey – seems like a nice guy, and he’s a heck of a performer.” I’m guessing he’s gonna get a good gig or two that he wouldn’t even have been considered for a couple of months ago.
I would imagine all the participants were paid for their participation. They’re all professionals (some dance professionals, others not) and ABC was making a tidy sum off their performances. So, while there may not have been a million dollar prize, perhaps each was paid commensurate with the length of their stay on the program???
annieclaus – absolutely. No one lost money by doing this – I was just talking about why there was no big-fat-check presentation last night.
I am sorely disappointed in this show, frankly. I originally thought it was supposed to be a dance contest, but Tom Bergeron spoke to it on television recently and said that it’s supposed to be a dancing/popularity contest and that that’s why they have judges for the dancing and telephone voting for the popularity aspect of the show.
Well, to me, that’s all well and good as long as there’s some corelation between the two: in other words, even though Stacey was clearly the better dancer, I was expecting Drew to win due to his popularity. This would have been okay as he had come long way and did a very good job – especially last night – and because a person could reasonbly argue that he had done a better job than Stacey in certain ways. So even though I regarded Stacey as the better dancer, Drew had pulled close enough so that if he were to win there would be a certain justification to it.
But to bump Stacey – in effect having her come in in third place – after all the 10s she scored (over the course of the show’s run) and the fact that she’s so marvelously talented, has put me off of this show almost completely…especially given that Lisa Rinna so unfairly got the boot, too!
Why the hell should these people work all that hard to become good at the dancing aspects of the show when it’s really just a popularity contest in which a perfectly charming dancer with the most talent of any contestant so far comes in third behind a lovable football player and a spunky amatuer who, though improved greatly, was still a less talented dancer? It appears they would be better served by striving to acquire some sort of sufficiently pleasing public personna, since that seems to be what counts the most.
I got hooked on this show because it was so much fun watching these people strive to become good at this type of dancing. I didn’t get hooked on it in order to watch determination, commitment, hard work and talent get tossed aside in favor of likability (or perhaps because of jealousy and resentment toward a beautiful and talented competitor for whom it may have appeared to come too easily)!
I was puffed enough when Lisa Rinna got the boot, but events last night have probably put me off this show for good (barring another charmer such as George Hamilton, that is, who I would tune in to watch just because he’s so much fun).
Once the judge’s scores were in, and Stacy was announced as #3, it was a mathematical certainty that Drew was the winner. (I think I can prove it, if anyone really cares).
Good golly, but Stacy is smokin’ hot. 42 inch legs. Daaaayaamn.
I don’t think I can change your opinion, or if I even would want to. . . but, Stacey’s 10s in previous weeks served to get her through to the next week and ultimately to the Final 3. Where she blew it in her free dance. Think of it like the football playoffs. A team’s performance during the regular season works to give the team a chance to play in the playoffs. But once there, it’s win or go home. Stacey simply did not win during the playoffs, blew her chance at the judges’ #1 score and didn’t have the call-in fan base to save her.
But she wasn’t #3; she was #2.
