On tonight’s (17 Apr.) results show, a singer entertained. Rod Stewart’s diametric opposite with regards to gender, hair, and complexion; but the raspy so-so voice was the same as his. Who was she? My wife heard she’d won some award. What award? That took me aback, because I didn’t think much of her. Am I missing something?
I didn’t see the episode but Stevie Nicks and Kim Carnes both have a Rod Stewart-y rasp in thier voices, and they’ve both won Grammies
Let me clarify.
Rod Stewart: white male, blonde curly hair.
This singer: black female, straight black hair.
So not Nicks or Carnes.
I’ll further clarify. Nicks and Carnes are enjoyable to listen to. Any raspiness in their voices is secondary to other aspects. This gal’s voice had the following three qualities: raspiness, raspiness, and raspiness. I thought she sucked.
Macey Gray (sp.? & sp.?) She had a big hit a few years ago. I personally like her voice.
I think it’s spelled Macy Grey. But don’t ask me why I’d know how she spells her name.
If ever there was a person who has made a decade long career out of one song, it is Macy Gray. She was in Spider-Man for pete’s sake- how dumb was that, in retrospect?
