Have any Dopers heard anything about the Danish newspapers reprinting the Prophet Muhammad cartoon again???

You say “set things off” as though the last time was a spontaneous reaction. It was actually carefully orchestrated and provoked by various Islamic leaders, who could raise an angry mob about such trivialities about Achmed’s Restaurant’s soup of the day choice if they wanted.
If more violence occurs, it won’t be because of the cartoons, but whether or not these leaders choose to agitate over them.
They were reprinted because arrests were made concerning a terrorist plot against the cartoonist. Heard on the radio that one of the three arrested has been released and two deported.
Sounds to me like there wasn’t a plot at all.
I didn’t say “plot”.
It’s correct: the cartoons were reprinted because the police made arrests for planning to murder the cartoonist. The reprint is a reaction to that. Of course there’s been a violent reaction - and I’m not sure it was the visest course of action - but we cannot sit by and let things get that far out of hand.

I think it’s great they had the courage not to cave in to superstition.
