It’s been a long time since I’ve read these books but I have a question. I read “Insomnia” and there was a kid in that who was somehow connected to the Dark Tower and Roland. Has it been explained who this kid is?
There are many (most, in fact) Stephen King books with direct or indirect connections to the Dark Tower series-- Insomnia is a big one, and so are The Talisman and Black House. So far, the main characters from the Dark Tower books have not come into direct contact with any other characters, and the connections remain a mystery. A lot of me really wants only a few more hints, but not to have the mystery explained. It’s more interesting to speculate.
Well, the first chapter of The Wolves of Calla is on King’s website, if anyone wants to take a gander. There is a familiar face to readers of King’s other books:
Fr. Callahan from 'Salem’s Lot.
Has anyone considered that perhaps Susan didn’t really die, as Roland saw in that pink gem-thingy? I seem to recall someone mentioning that the gem can lie in order to get what it wants, or some such, and it seemed plausible, at the time, that the gem could have told Roland she died in order to get him to abandon her, for whatever reason. Of course, since it’s been centuries since the events of W&G, she’d have died of old age anyway, unless she was somehow kept alive by magic (or Roland could travel back in time, via some magical doorway, or such), but I’ve flirted with the idea, on occasion, that Susan and Roland may meet again. Perhaps it’s just wishful thinking.

that makes sense to me
